Welcome to the LAARC Object of the Month Competition.
Each month, three objects from our vast collection are selected and compete to try and claim the coveted title of Object Of The Month!
This year, each competition will see one artefact chosen by a LAARC volunteer, one by a LAARC member of staff and one by a Museum of London curator. During the last week of each month these objects will be on display outside the archive and you can vote for your favourite online by folllowing the link at the bottom of each competition page.

Love it, but the 'a' so commonly put inbetween Thomas and Beckett is a Victorian affectation. Can we plaese drop it as we did Boadicea?

Where was this piece of glass found? Could the glass be associated with clockmaking (lantern clocks in particular)? There's a Samuel Davis who was apprenticed to one of the founding members of the Clockmakers Guild in 1641. Clockmakers had to be able to engrave, work with glass, metal and wood. There are several sites associated with lantern clockmakers around this time. It this piece of glass comes from one of them, it might be possible to link this apprentice to this bottle fragment.
